Directions to Supporting Kidds from Common Starting Points

Note.  Traffic is heavy on the road to Hockessin during afternoon rush hour.  Leave plenty of time, and think about back roads if you are familiar with the area.

4From Concord Pike at Route 141 (North Wilmington):

 1) Travel south on Route 141 (past Astra-Zeneca)

     Go abut 1.5 miles

2)  At the red light at the duPont Experimental Station, turn right and cross the Tyler McConnell Bridge (This road is still Route 141)

     Go about 1.3 miles

3)  Turn right at light onto Route 48 West (Lancaster Pike)

     Go about 4.5 miles - You will pass Sanford School on the left

4)  Look for Tomm’s Produce on the right (a big barn-shaped wooden produce store) and Hockessin Montessori School on        

      the left.  Turn left toward the school onto Old Lancaster Pike.

      Go about 1.3 mile

5)  Building is yellow house on the right (Casapulla’s sub shop is on the left.)

There are two parallel parking spaces in front of the building, but most of them are in the rear of the building, marked with painted lines.  However, they are made of hollow pavers that grass grows through, so they are not immediately obvious.  If parking spaces are filled, you may also head-in park in the grass along the railroad tracks; just be careful not to block the driveway or drive on any debris.  Another option is to park in the fire hall lot and walk across the track to Kidds.  We do not have permission to park across Old Lancaster Pike in the Hockessin Corner parking lot (which contains landmarks such as Casual Marketplace and The Back Burner Restaurant).

If you get to the stop sign at the WAWA, you’ve gone too far.  (We are about a block before WAWA).

4From Kirkwood Highway at Route 41 (Newport Gap Pike - Price’s Corner area):

1)  Travel west on Route 41 (Newport Gap Pike)

            Go about 6 miles

            Route 41 eventually merges in with Route 48

            You will pass Sanford School on the left

2)  Follow the above directions # 4 and # 5

4From Paper Mill Road (Route 72) at Cleveland Avenue in Newark, DE:

1)  Travel North on Route 72 (Paper Mill Road)

            Go about 5.5 miles.  The road will dead-end at Route 7

2)  Turn left at light at Limestone Road (Route 7 North)

            Go about 1 mile

3)  Turn right onto Brackenville Road

            Go about 1 mile

4)  Turn left onto Mill Creek Road

            Go about 1 mile.  The road will dead-end at Old Lancaster Pike

5)  Turn right onto Old Lancaster Pike

            Go about the length of a block; Kidds is the yellow house on the left.

4From Route 52 (Centerville, Chadds Ford and Kennett Square area):

1.  From Route 1 get on Route 52 heading south towards Wilmington

2.  Just as you enter the town of Centerville turn RIGHT onto Snuff Mill Road

(NOTE:   If you get on RT. 52 via Smith Bridge Road, you take a RIGHT onto Route 52 & a LEFT onto Snuff Mill)

Go 1.5 miles

3.  Snuff Mill Road dead-ends at Old Kennett Road

     Take a RIGHT at the Stop Sign onto Old Kennett Road

     Go 0.1 mile

4.  Take the first LEFT back onto Snuff Mill Road from Old Kennett Road (Do not take the immediate left into a private  

     driveway)

     Go 1.3 miles

5.  Snuff Mill Road dead-ends at Creek Road (DE 82)

     Take a RIGHT at the stop sign onto Creek Road (DE 82)

     Go 0.5 miles

6.  At the Fork (stop sign) bear LEFT over the metal bridge onto Yorklyn Road

     Go 1.9 miles (you will eventually cross go through the light at the main intersection of Lancaster Pike)

7.  After passing through the major intersection, you will come to a stop sign.  Turn LEFT onto Old Lancaster Pike

     (WAWA will be onto the right, the Light House will be on the left). 

     Go 0.1 miles

8.  Follow step #5 as described above.
